Bengaluru has emerged as the leading city for fresher hiring in the global capability centre (GCC) sector, with 17% of companies projecting a more than 50% increase in hiring in 2025, according to a report by NLB Services. This aggressive hiring approach outpaces other cities, driven by India's growing focus on entry-level talent to meet evolving industry demands.
The IT-hardware and software sector is nearly doubling its share from 17% in 2024 to 34% in 2025, followed by FMCG at 16%, insurance at 15%, and pharma at 11%. These sectors are driving the demand for fresh talent, with companies looking to build a future-ready workforce. Freshers in the IT sector can expect salary packages ranging from Rs 3.5 lakh to Rs 8 lakh per annum, depending on their skill set and role.
Software developers typically earn between Rs 2.8 lakh to Rs 8.2 lakh per annum, while web developers' salaries range from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 8 lakh per annum. These salary packages are competitive and reflect the growing demand for skilled professionals in the IT sector.
Beyond metro cities, emerging tech hubs are creating new opportunities for freshers in IT and non-IT sectors. Cities like Mysuru, Gandhinagar, Visakhapatnam, Indore, Lucknow, Kochi, Jaipur, and Vijayawada are witnessing remarkable growth, driven by a strong talent pool choosing to stay local. Fresher salaries in these cities range from Rs 3.5 lakh to Rs 6 lakh per annum, slightly higher than metro cities.
According to Sachin Alug, CEO of NLB Services, Bengaluru's lead in fresher hiring reflects India's growing focus on building a future-ready workforce, driven by advancements in automation, cybersecurity, and cloud transformation. As GCCs expand globally, the demand for young talent is set to rise sharply in the coming years. This trend is expected to continue, with companies looking to hire fresh talent to meet the evolving demands of the industry.
