The growth of Global Capability Centers (GCCs) in India is expected to drive demand for IT services, according to Joseph Anantharaju, Co-Chairman and CEO of Happiest Minds Technologies.
In an interview with The Hindu Business Line, Anantharaju said that India’s growth in the IT services sector will be higher than Europe or the USA this year, driven by the increasing presence of GCCs in the country.
“From a geography perspective, our revenues in the Middle East have gone up, and we acquired a few customers during the quarter in the banking space. We have critical mass there, and it should continue growing. In India, despite a drop in this quarter, we exhibited growth and expect it to continue. This year, India’s growth will be higher than Europe or the USA because a lot is happening with GCCs coming in,” Anantharaju said.
This growth trend is expected to benefit IT services companies like Happiest Minds, which is focusing on verticalisation and creating separate business units to tap into the growing demand. The company has already seen signs of good growth in areas such as GenAI, BFS, and healthcare.
Happiest Minds is also working on integrating its recent acquisitions and pursuing private equity opportunities to drive growth. The company has invested Rs 40 crore in its GenAI and new sales team initiatives and expects these investments to yield results in FY26.
“The priority for this year will be to integrate the two companies we have acquired. The other three would be around GCCs, pursuing private equity companies and hyper accounts,” he said.
With a focus on enhancing its platforms and exploring new opportunities, Happiest Minds is well-positioned to benefit from the growing demand for IT services in India, driven by the GCC phenomenon.
