India's Global Capability Centres (GCCs) landscape witnessed significant expansion in the first quarter of 2025, with over 16 new GCCs established, according to a report by Nasscom. This growth underscores India's pivotal role in global technology services.
The new centres, hailing from diverse geographies including North America, Europe, and APAC, span multiple verticals such as software and internet, BFSI, travel/hospitality, and professional services. Cities like Hyderabad, Pune, and Bengaluru continue to attract these new GCCs due to their rich talent pools and vibrant tech ecosystems.
The emerging GCCs are strategically focusing on cutting-edge digital domains, including AI adoption, data analytics, product engineering, and cybersecurity. AI is at the core of many new GCCs' strategies, transforming how work is executed and enabling autonomous, intelligent operations.
Data analytics is driving mature data practices, boosting operational efficiency, while product engineering is enabling innovation in both hardware and software domains. Cybersecurity is becoming a strategic priority, with GCCs integrating AI, machine learning, and blockchain to enhance threat detection and response.
The report highlights that these focus areas are driving distinct yet complementary value, positioning India's GCC ecosystem as a critical enabler of global digital transformation. With this expansion, India's GCC landscape is expected to continue its robust growth trajectory, solidifying the country's position as a hub for global technology services.
“The Q1 2025 cohort of GCCs in India clearly demonstrates a strategic separation and specialization in their focus areas. Each domain is driving distinct yet complementary value — AI powers intelligent automation and innovation, data analytics fuels informed decision-making and efficiency, and cybersecurity safeguards digital assets with cutting-edge technologies. Together, these focus areas position India’s GCC ecosystem as a critical enabler of global digital transformation”, the report said.
